The Global Championship season 1 finale

The Global Championship season 1 finale.

The inaugural season of TGC draws to a close tonight, and the championship is still up for grabs. Two titanic teams have their sights set on the title, and the advantage very much belongs to Visceral Esports. VSR lead the championship by 35 points over Race Clutch, so whilst the gap isn’t impossible to overcome, it will take quite some misfortune for VSR to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. RC must have both drivers in the podium positions, and one of them has to win tonight’s race in Interlagos.

— If RC scores the 1–2, VSR must have one driver in the top six with the fastest lap or better to deny the title going to the French squad.
— If RC manage a 1–3, VSR need only have a driver in the top eight with the fastest lap to take the top honours.

Whilst the championship has mainly focused on the team performance, particularly with the nature of drivers not being fixed for all 10 rounds of the championship, there is still a drivers championship to conclude, and again, because of the nature of drivers doing a few rounds each through the course of the season, the driver’s championship is much less straightforward. This is a three-horse race between TF10s Alfie Butcher on 82 points, who took a storming victory last time out at COTA, Hungary’s Patrik Sipos, top scorer for Race Clutch on 71 points, and winner of the opening round of the season, Duncan Hofland from The Netherlands for VSR on 56 points.

— If Alfie Butcher finishes ahead of Patrik and Duncan, the driver’s championship goes to the Brit
— Patrick Sipos must be higher than 5th with the fastest lap to stay in the fight.
— If Patrick wins, Alfie must be 3rd to take the title by a single point
— If Patrick is 2nd, Alfie needs to be in the top six
— If Patrick is 3rd, Alfie needs to be in the top eight
— If Patrick is 4th plus fastest lap, Alfie needs to be in the top nine
— If Patrick is 4th without the fastest lap, Alfie would need to fail to score any points for the title to go to the Hungarian
— Duncan has to win and have the fastest lap, and have BOTH Alfie and Patrick fail to score any points for the Dutchman to take the title

Interlagos has been the stage for many title deciders in the past, and again the Brazilian classic is set to give us an epic showdown. Tonight at 7PM BST is when the show will begin, and here is the place to see all the action unfold.
